Services

We recommend you have your product serviced yearly to comply with the manufacturer’s warranty and also to prolong life.

What's involved in an annual service?

Gas Fire Service

  • A gas pressure drop test is carried out on the whole system with all gas appliances turned off. This lets us know there are no leaks within the property

  • We have to turn the boiler off and also if you have a gas AGA this will also need turning off. Sometimes due to age turning a boiler or AGA off results in the thermocouples failing and they would need replacing. This is not damage caused by us but pure coincidence and would require a gas safe fitter who specialises in boilers to rectify. This is extremely rare.

  • You are allowed a fixed amount of leakage but if you go over the amount based on the gas meter then we would have to isolate the gas meter and you would have to get a plumber to find the leak. This is extremely rare.

  • We would then check the gas fire to make sure it is operating at its correct pressures and that all the safety devices are working.

  • If the appliance is behind glass the glass would be removed and the inside cleaned.

  • All batteries would be tested and replaced.

  • If you have a chimney liner then you do not need to sweep the chimney. If you have a brick chimney without a liner then ideally you should get the chimney swept and tested to make sure it is still safe to use.

Fan Service

  • If you have a gas or solid fuel fan we would require access to it to carry out a service on it. Access to the fan would generally be via a ladder but if special access was required to install the fan then this would be required again at your expense

  • The fan would be cleaned and all components check to make sure they are moving freely

  • Any pressure switches are tested and calibrated if needed

  • All moving parts are greased

  • All safety devices are checked

Solid Fuel Stove

  • The stove should be cold and not used for at least 2 days prior to a service

  • All internal parts are removed and the entire inside cleaned up to the flue collar

  • All parts are re-fitted and any parts that have decayed beyond use are replaced at a later date at your request. Cracked panels do not require replacing if they are still whole

  • All controls are checked for correct operation and movement

  • All seals around the door are checked for leakage and replaced if necessary at your cost

  • A small fire is lit to test all controls and the draw of the flue

  • The carbon monoxide alarm is checked and batteries changed if required

Any parts required are notified to you before ordering or fitting.

If the appliance has been fitted by others we will make sure it is to current regulations. If it is not then a warning label will be issued and you will be advised not to use the appliance until made safe.
