Q. Can I have a fireplace if I don’t have a chimney?
A. Yes so long as you are on an external wall you can have a fan and flue system to suit all types of fire or the flue can run up through the property.
Q. Can I have a stove fitted if I don’t have a chimney?
A. Yes so long as you are on an external wall or if the flue can run up through the property then so long as you have 4.5 meters from the top of the stove to comply with regulations.
Q. Should I get my chimneys swept before you come round?
A. An existing chimney needs to be swept and tested prior to a new appliance being fitted which could uncover unseen problems which the sweep will point out.
Q. Do I have to line my chimney?
A. You only have to line the chimney if it fails an integrity test or if the internal flue is more than 12 meters or the external flue is more than 10 meters to comply with regulations.
Q. Can I install a stove in my bungalow?
A. The minimum flue height for a solid fuel fire is 4.5 meters from the top of the appliance
Q. Do I need planning permission for my chimney?
A. Yes! Planning permission is required before having a chimney installed.
Q. Can I re-use my old liner?
A. Yes, old liners can be re-used.
